-o-Nitrophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside (o-NPG) is a chromogenic substrate for b-galactosidase that is enzymatically converted to a soluble yellow product. The yellow product is read at 410nm making o-NPG useful as a substrate for ELISA based assays.
